Starting pitching confirmed for opening series

(GOODYEAR, Ariz.) – The Cleveland Indians and Toronto Blue Jays have confirmed their starting pitchers for their season-opening three-game series at the Rogers Centre.

The Tribe will open the 2013 campaign with right-hander Justin Masterson on the bump. Masterson will be opposed by Blue Jays knuckleballer R.A. Dickey. Ubaldo Jimenez opens up what could be his final season in an Indians uniform against right-hander Brandon Morrow in the second game of the series. The series-finale will feature Brett Myers making his Indians debut squaring off against veteran lefty Mark Buehrle.

The series opens up Tuesday, April 2. All three games are slated for 7:07 pm ET starts. The Indians then head to St. Petersburg for a three-game set with the Tampa Bay Rays, before opening up the home portion of their schedule at Progressive Field in a four-game series with the New York Yankees.

The Indians opening homestand features four games with the Yankees, three with the Chicago White Sox, followed by three with the Boston Red Sox.

Masterson, Jimenez and Myers will be followed by right-hander Zach McAllister and new left-hander Scott Kazmir in the starting rotation.
