Announced by Merril Hastings at the second national conference meeting of the National Coalition for Cancer Survivorship in Albuquerque, New Mexico on November 20, 1987. Yes, that's a real place! Chimorazo, pronounced "chimbur-razo," is an inactive volcano located in Ecuador and is part of the Andes mountains of South America. Why is it important? Well, because of equatorial buldge, it's the highest point from on the surface from the Earth's center. So, technically, it's further from the center of the earth than Mount Everest. Technically.
