(Cleveland) - A suspect in an eastside home invasion is shot and killed early Monday morning by the homeowner.
Cleveland police believe the suspect tried robbing the man as the victim and a female left their E. 178 Street home for their car parked in their driveway about 12:30 a.m.
The Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner's office has identified the suspect as 23-year-old Waymone Williams of Cleveland.
The suspect hit the homeowner in the head with a gun and tried to yank him from his car.
That's when investigators say the victim pulled out a gun and fired several times at the suspect, fatally hitting him in the torso. Another suspect stole the woman's purse and made off into the night.
His whereabouts are unknown. Anyone with information in the case is asked to call Cleveland Homicide at 216-623-5464.
The homeowner is a conceal carry permit holder. His name has not been released. Cleveland Police continue to investigate.
