Overnight shootings leave one dead, three wounded

(Cleveland)   A 17 year old Cleveland boy died just after midnight Saturday, after being shot in the chest and back.

Cleveland Police say Michael Whitaker was wounded in the area of 1384 West 91st Street at about 6:00P.M. Friday evening.

They say he was visiting friends at home, then stepped outside for "unknown reasons".  Witnesses heard several shots, and found him lying outside.

He was taken to MetroHealth Medical Center, where he died about six hours later.

In an unrelated incident, two men were wounded when someone shot at a gas station at the corner of Woodland and East 55th Street. 

It happened about 3:00AM.  Police say one victim was injured when bullets shattered his car windows and some of the glass got in his eyes.

The other victim was hit in the forearm as he was entering the store area of the gas station.

On West 73rd and Lorain, a woman was walking to the store and noticed a group of men arguing.

One of them pulled a gun, she heard a pop and saw fire from the barrel.

She was taken to Lutheran Medical Center, then transferred to Metro.  The exact nature of the injuries is not known.
