Strongsville man keeps in touch with Boston friends

(Cuyahoga County) - Strongsville resident Jeff DeJongh has been keeping in close touch with his former boss Ron. DeJongh says his longtime friend and his girlfriend Karen were among those injured in the Boston Marathon bombings. Ron and Karen's daughter was treated and released.

Jeff DeJongh says Ron and Karen were critically wounded, and have undergone several operations to save their legs. They were just ten feet away from the blast watching friends approaching the finish line when the explosions occurred.

DeJongh has spoken to Ron and Karen by phone and says their spirits are high and they expect to recover. DeJongh says both have forgiven their attackers.

DeJongh moved to Strongsville 11 years ago, but is still a Boston native at heart, and admits the tragedy there really affected him. He's very proud of how police handled the situation.
