(Akron) - The Fifth Annual Northeast Ohio Parkinson’s Boot Camp was held Saturday at the John S. Knight Center. About 600 participants attended.
Parkingson's remains a major health concern as has affected notable personalities such as singer Linda Ronstadt, actor Michael J. Fox, and boxer Muhammad Ali.
Dr. Benjamin Walter of University Hospitals of Cleveland, tells Newsradio WTAM 1100, The theme of the boot camp was "Take control of your PD".
Dr. Walter also runs the Deep Brain Stimulation Program at University Hospitals.
He says patients were taught exercise techniques, mind and body wellness practices and invigorating skills to manage Parkinson’s. Breakfast and lunch were provided at this all-day event.
Taking part were representatives of the Michael J. Fox Foundation, with the keynote speaker Dr. Monique Giroux, Medical Director, Movement & Neuroperformance Center Colorado and Sierra Farris, PA-C Deep Brain Stimulation Services Director, of the Movement & Neuroperformance Center in Colorado.
