(Cleveland) – The city of Cleveland’s web site was shut down Monday morning, and the hacker group Anonymous is taking claim, saying it was a protest related to the fatal shooting by police of 12-year-old Tamir Rice.
In a video released by Anonymous, they claim Cleveland Police were not properly trained, and that led to the boy's death.
The mayor's office tells WTAM 1100 they are not sure why the city's web site is down, and are not confirming that the group Anonymous was responsible.
Anyone needing information from the city can call City Hall at 216-644-2900, or the city's 311 information line.
When Tamir was shot outside the Cudell Recreation Center on the west side Saturday, police say they thought he was carrying a semi-automatic handgun. It turned out to be a B-B-style gun known as an Airsoft, which had the bright orange plastic portion to indicate it was a toy, removed.
