(Columbus) - A two year old boy has already gotten a recruiting letter from Ohio State football.
The letter, signed by Coach Urban Meyer, was in response to a letter from Matt Busser about his son, Sullivan. Busser snapped some photos of his toddler on the field at Ohio Stadium during another event and thought it would be fun to put them together and send off to Ohio State.
"I got a couple of him throwing the ball. I got him laying on the ground looking like he recovered a fumble. I got a couple of him sitting in the stands eating popcorn," he said.
Busser says he's starting a tradition of taking his son to at least one game a year. He tried with the San Diego State game and ended up having to leave when Sullivan got a little fussy. When they pulled into the drive way that day Busser checked the mail and found the letter, addressed to Sullivan, in the mailbox.
Your parents sent us your future Buckeye recruiting information. We will look for you to make your collegiate football debut in 2029 - you will need to gain a little weight, but our strength staff will take care of that! Go Bucks!"
It was signed by Meyer.
"We did it to get a response. We obviously didn't know it would go viral like it has," said Busser.
The story has been picked up by several national publications and websites. Busser is saving all the stories and the letter for his son.
"If anything he'll have a story for the rest of his life," he joked.
Busser isn't too sure if his son will make it as a football Buckeye.
"Chances are that if he gets my height and weight he'll never see a college football field," he said.
He's not even demanding that his son go to Ohio State, but says if he picks Michigan there could be issues.
Busser also says they're pretty confident that Ohio State didn't break any NCAA recruiting violations because they sent the request for the letter. Even though, he joked that any gifts sent to his son trying to urge him to go to Ohio State will be returned.
